How much does professional presentation design cost?

PixelFaerie · 24 September 2026 · 4 minute read

There is no single price for presentation design. A simple branded deck built from finished content is a very different job from a pitch deck that needs restructuring, storytelling and custom visuals. This guide explains what drives the cost and what to think about before asking for a quote.

What determines the cost?

Six things, in roughly this order of importance:

Looking only at the number of slides rarely gives an accurate picture of the work involved.

1. Starting materials

One of the biggest factors is how much is already prepared. If you have finalised copy, a clear structure, brand guidelines and existing charts, the project is usually straightforward. If you are starting from rough notes, an unstructured document or a deck that needs rebuilding, more work is needed before the design itself can begin.

2. Level of customisation

Some presentations only need a small set of branded layouts. Others need custom illustrations, infographics, diagrams, icons and data visualisation. The more custom the visual treatment, the more design time the project requires.

3. Strategy and storytelling

For pitch decks, sales and investor presentations, the structure and message can matter as much as the visuals. Improving the flow of ideas, the information hierarchy and the key messages goes beyond formatting slides, and adds to the scope.

4. Turnaround time and revisions

A flexible timeline leaves room for planning, feedback and revisions, while a tight deadline may need extra resources. Most suppliers add a flat rush premium when the deadline is short. We think that is unfair in both directions, because ten hours for a small fix is comfortable and ten hours for a full rebuild is a scramble, so we price on the ratio between the deadline and the effort the job needs instead.

Revisions matter too. Small text changes are quick, but changing the structure or rebuilding visuals takes real work. It helps to agree the deadline and the revision process at the start.

5. Pricing models

Presentation design is usually sold per project (a fixed price for a clearly defined scope), per slide (easy to understand, although the work per slide can vary a lot) or through a subscription or retainer for companies that need regular support. The right choice depends on how often you need design help and how predictable your workload is.

6. Don't forget the hidden costs

The design fee is not the only cost. Internal teams often spend significant time collecting content, preparing data, reviewing slides and coordinating feedback. Quotes that need a scoping call, a written brief and a week of back-and-forth cost hours that never appear on the invoice. This time is worth counting when comparing options.

How PixelFaerie approaches it

PixelFaerie designs presentations and pitch decks for companies that need professional visual communication without an in-house presentation team. Because every project is different, we look at the overall scope rather than simply counting slides. With Saije, our PowerPoint add-in, you mark up what each slide needs and get an effort estimate and a confirmed delivery time before you commit, so the quote takes minutes rather than days.

Frequently asked questions

Is presentation design priced per slide?

Sometimes, but two decks with the same number of slides can need very different amounts of work. A per-slide price is only meaningful once the supplier has seen the slides.

Is a template cheaper?

Templates work well for simple or internal presentations. For high-stakes decks, a custom design that carries the story is usually the better choice.

What should I send a designer?

Your content, brand guidelines, existing assets, the relevant data, and the purpose and audience of the presentation. The more of this is ready, the more accurate the quote and the faster the work.

Final thoughts

The cost of presentation design is about more than the number of slides. When comparing options, look at what is included, how the process works, how much of your team's time it will take, and whether the final presentation will achieve its goal.
